Testosterone Therapy for Men in Monroe, NC
Testosterone levels drop gradually with age, and for some men the drop shows up as low
energy, a lower sex drive or a body that does not respond the way it used to. At Milk &
Honey Medspa, testosterone therapy is managed by our nurse practitioners, Kirby
Bandoquillo, FNP, and Brandi Bandoquillo, FNP. It starts with a full lab workup, not a guess.
If you would rather see a male provider, ask for Kirby when you book. Book a consultation
online or call 980-269-1777.
Signs men come to us with
- Low energy or feeling worn out by mid-afternoon
- Lower sex drive
- Losing muscle or strength despite working out
- Gaining weight around the middle
- Irritability or low mood
- Poor sleep or trouble concentrating
These can have many causes, which is why we test before we treat
How it works
1. Consultation. We talk through your symptoms, your health history and your goals.
2. Full lab workup. Blood work shows where your levels are and gives us a baseline for the
safety markers we watch.
3. Your plan. If testosterone therapy is right for you, we go over your options, how often
you will be seen and what to expect.
4. Follow-up. We recheck your labs on a set schedule and adjust your dose as needed.
Your treatment options
- Injections. Testosterone injections are given on a regular schedule. They are easy to
adjust, which makes them a good fit while we find your right dose. - Pellets. Small pellets are placed just under the skin during a short office visit and release
testosterone steadily over several months. They mean fewer visits once your dose is set.
Your nurse practitioner will help you decide which fits your life and your labs.
Your lab schedule
Regular labs are how we keep your treatment safe and effective.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Before you start | Full lab workup |
| One month after starting | Follow-up labs |
| Every three months | Follow-up labs until your levels have been stable for six months |
| Every six months | Follow-up labs once you are stable |
Is it right for you?
Testosterone therapy is not right for every man. It can raise your red blood cell count,
which is one reason we monitor your labs, and it can lower sperm production, so tell us if
you are planning to have children. Certain conditions, including some cancers, can rule it
out. We go through your history before recommending anything.
Close to home and discreet
You do not need to drive into Charlotte for this. Our office is in Monroe, appointments are
private, and the conversation stays between you and your provider.
Common questions
How do I know if my testosterone is low? Only a blood test can tell you. Symptoms alone
are not enough, which is why every plan starts with labs.
How soon will I feel a difference? It varies. Some men notice changes within a few weeks,
and others take a couple of months.
Should I choose injections or pellets? Injections are easier to fine-tune, and pellets mean
fewer visits once your dose is set. We will help you weigh it up.
Will I need labs forever? Yes, as long as you are on therapy. Once you are stable, that
means labs every six months.
Does it affect fertility? It can lower sperm production. If children are in your plans, tell us
at your first visit so we can plan around it.
