Helix CO2 Laser Resurfacing in Monroe, NC
Sun damage, fine lines and rough texture build up slowly, and skincare alone only goes so
far. At Milk & Honey Medspa in Monroe, we use the Helix, a laser that pairs CO2 resurfacing with a second, gentler wavelength. That lets a nurse practitioner choose between three treatments, CoolPeel, Sultra, and Fusion, and match the one that fits your skin and the downtime you can manage.
Three treatments on one laser
| Treatment | What it is | Often chosen for |
|---|---|---|
| CoolPeel | CO2 resurfacing of the skin's surface, with little downtime | Sun damage, fine lines, texture and pores |
| Sultra | A gentler 1570 nm treatment that warms the deeper skin to stimulate collagen, without removing the surface | A first laser treatment, and firmer-looking skin |
| Fusion | CO2 and 1570 nm combined in one session | Deeper correction of scars, lines, laxity and sun damage |
What Helix treats
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun damage and uneven tone
- Age spots and discoloration
- Rough texture and enlarged pores
- Acne scars and other scars
- Skin that has lost firmness
We treat the face, neck, chest and hands.
How it works
CoolPeel delivers CO2 laser energy in very short pulses to tiny points across the surface of the skin. That clears damaged surface skin and prompts new collagen, while limiting the heat that causes the long recovery of older lasers.
Sultra uses a different wavelength that passes through the surface and warms the deeper layer, where collagen is made. Fusion delivers both in the same session, so the surface and the deeper layer are treated together.
Who it is for
Helix treatments suit adults who want visibly fresher skin without taking a week off. They are popular with women in their 40s and 50s who are seeing sun damage and texture changes, and with patients whose skin has changed after weight loss. Because Sultra does not remove the skin's surface, it gives us another option when CO2 is not the right fit.
It is not right for everyone. Your consult covers your skin type, medical history, medications and recent sun exposure before we recommend anything.
What to expect
- Your consult. We look at your skin, talk through your goals and tell you honestly
whether laser is the right choice. - Treatment day. The treatment takes about 1hr (30 min for numbing and 30 min
for the laser treatment). - The next few days. Most patients describe a sunburn feeling, with redness and a dry,
sandpaper-like texture as the skin renews. - Your results. Many patients choose a series of three treatments. 4-6 weeks in between
treatments. Individual results vary.
Every treatment includes aftercare instructions, and we are a phone call away if you have
questions while you heal.
Why fall and winter
Laser works best on skin that is not tanned, and treated skin needs protection from the
sun while it heals. That makes October through February the easiest time of year to do it.

Before and after

Questions patients ask
Does CoolPeel hurt? Most patients describe warmth and a prickling feeling during
treatment.
How much downtime is there? Plan on a few days of redness and dry texture. Most
people return to normal activities quickly, with sunscreen and gentle skincare.
How many treatments will I need? It depends on your skin and your goals. Many patients
see a difference after one treatment and choose a series of three for fuller results.
What is the difference between CoolPeel, Sultra and Fusion? CoolPeel resurfaces the
top layer of skin. Sultra works beneath the surface to stimulate collagen. Fusion does both
in one session. At your consult we recommend one based on your skin, your goals and how
much downtime you can take.
CoolPeel or microneedling? Both improve texture. Microneedling uses fine needles to
trigger collagen. CoolPeel also resurfaces the top layer of skin, so it does more for sun
damage and discoloration. Your consult will tell you which fits your skin.
Can laser help my skin after weight loss? Skin often looks looser and more textured after
significant weight loss. Resurfacing can improve texture and tone, and we sometimes pair
it with other treatments for lost volume.
